One of the UK’s largest portable building specialists, Wernick Group, has completed the acquisition of modular manufacturer and hire firm AVDanzer (“Danzer”), in a deal adding more depots and specialist manufacturing capability to its family of brands.
Manchester-based AVDanzer is a leading provider of high quality modular and temporary buildings for sale or hire, supplying major UK infrastructure and development projects including the new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point, and the London Power Tunnels Project. It also supplies schools, hospitals, laboratories, sports sites and offices with temporary and permanent buildings to help them rapidly increase capacity.
Founded in 1934, family-run Wernick Group has expanded vigorously over the last two decades to offer national coverage from 32 depots and divisional offices, serving public and private sectors with the sale and hire of modular buildings, site accommodation and off-grid power solutions.
Keeping it in the family
Explaining the rationale for the transaction, Group Chairman David Wernick said: “We have a strong admiration for Danzer’s manufacturing capability and products, and after the initial discussions, it quickly became apparent that both family-owned businesses share the same values of excellent customer service, outstanding product quality, focus on safety, and keeping things simple.

While the value and terms of the acquisition are undisclosed, the business will continue to operate from its sites in Manchester and Langley Mill. The anti-vandal steel manufacturing based at Langley Mill will continue to trade as AVDanzer. The Brentwood depot will be absorbed into Wernick’s depots in Essex and Kent. Helen Webster will remain with the business.
