In a strategic move to enhance its event management portfolio, First Artist Corporation, a leading sports management group, has acquired renowned event management agency, The Finishing Touch. This acquisition was led by M&A specialist Mark Sapsford and marks an exciting new chapter for both companies.
A legacy of event expertise
The Finishing Touch, founded by Mel Atkins in 1989, emerged during the early days of the UK events industry. Over the years, the agency became well known for delivering end-to-end event management services, organizing everything from corporate Christmas parties to large-scale conferences. The agency built a reputation for excellence and innovation, serving a wide range of clients across industries.
First Artist’s sports legacy
Founded in London in 1986, First Artist Corporation has long been a dominant player in the world of sports management. The company represented the England national football team for a decade and played a pivotal role in creating the “Team England” commercial structure, which continues to thrive today. First Artist was also instrumental in the formation and launch of the Premier League in 1992 and provides brand consultancy for high-profile names in global football, operating out of offices in London, New York, and Milan.
The acquisition and rebrand journey
First Artist’s acquisition of The Finishing Touch in 2007 paved the way for future developments. In 2012, The Finishing Touch was rebranded as Ex Events, continuing to deliver high-quality event management services under a new name. By 2015, Ex Events became part of the Burnbrae Group, further solidifying its place in the events industry.
