Display World embarks on a new chapter with IMB contracts acquisition

Display World, a leading provider of high-quality shopfitting, merchandising, and point-of-sale solutions, has entered a new phase of growth with the acquisition of IMB Contracts, one of the UK’s premier shopfitting teams.

Founded in February 1997 by CEO Derek Robinson, Display World has grown steadily, operating from its 16,000 ft² facility in Soham, Cambridgeshire, which houses its factory, workshop, customer storage, and offices.

This acquisition marks a strategic move for Display World as it seeks to expand its capabilities and better serve a broad spectrum of retail, leisure, and banking clients.

Using M&A to build strong foundations

For over two decades, Display World has built a reputation for delivering top-tier shopfitting, merchandising, and display solutions on both bulk roll-out and bespoke projects. With a dedicated in-house team handling every aspect of a project—from Project Management, CAD, Health & Safety, and Site Management—Display World offers a seamless process that takes projects from design briefing to manufacture, installation, and aftercare.

This holistic approach has earned Display World a strong and loyal customer base, as well as a dedicated team of employees who have been instrumental in the company's organic growth. However, as the retail landscape evolves, Display World recognizes the need to enhance its offerings to meet the changing demands of its customers.

The acquisition of IMB Contracts: A strategic growth initiative

The acquisition of IMB Contracts is a key part of Display World’s strategy to elevate its business and strengthen its service offerings. IMB Contracts, based in Wimborne, Dorset, is highly regarded in the shopfitting industry, with major clients such as Ladbrokes, SpecSavers, Paddy Power, and Coral. The company’s commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction aligns perfectly with Display World's values.

CEO Derek Robinson emphasized the importance of this shared ethos: "IMB Contracts is widely recognized as one of the country’s premier shopfitting teams and is held in high regard by their major customers. IMB shares our ethos that customers' confidence in our ability to deliver is and must remain central to everything we do."

A New Chapter: growth without consolidation

The integration of IMB Contracts into Display World is not about consolidation, but rather growth. Mr Robinson has made it clear that there are no plans to cut jobs at either company. IMB Contracts will continue operating from its offices in Dorset, employing 14 staff.

The goal is to leverage the strengths of both companies to enhance their combined offering and create new opportunities for employees and customers alike.
