Droitwich Pharmacy Acquired by MSA in Strategic Business Sale

Droitwich Pharmacy, one of the largest independent dispensing pharmacies in the UK Midlands, has been acquired by MSA Global Holdings in a strategic move to expand its presence in the pharmaceutical sector. The business sale marks a significant transition for the well-established pharmacy, which has been serving the community since 1978 and dispenses over 20,000 prescriptions per month.

A Competitive Acquisition Process

The sale of Droitwich Pharmacy attracted significant interest, before vendor shareholder John Hinks chose to progress an agreement with MSA Global Holdings, a diversified healthcare group looking to leverage its industry experience to enhance the pharmacy’s operations and reputation.

MSA Global Holdings was represented by Hawkins Hatton Corporate Lawyers, while sole vendor shareholder John Hinks was advised by James Pugh during the acquisition process.

Strategic Expansion for MSA Global Holdings

The acquisition of Droitwich Pharmacy aligns with MSA Global Holdings’ broader growth strategy. The group plans to integrate the business into its subsidiary Flintlow, which operates within the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries.

MSA Global Holdings also owns Veenak International, GlobenGen, and S&K Holdings, further strengthening its position in the market. By incorporating Droitwich Pharmacy into its portfolio, MSA aims to build on the pharmacy’s established brand and reputation while driving further expansion within the sector.

Planned Exit and Future Growth

For John Hinks, the business sale represents a well-executed planned exit, allowing him to transition out of the company while ensuring its continued success under new ownership. With MSA Global Holdings’ expertise and resources, Droitwich Pharmacy is poised to thrive and expand under its new leadership.

Hawkins Hatton partner Colin Rodrigues commented on the acquisition: "The acquisition will strengthen the base of the group and enable it to continue its strategic growth within the pharmaceutical sector."

As MSA Global Holdings integrates Droitwich Pharmacy into its growing healthcare portfolio, the future looks promising for both the pharmacy and its customers, ensuring continued high-quality service and innovation in the industry.

Client feedback

“During the time I was taken through the process by James Pugh, the deal leader who nursed me through every step of the way.

With James, we interviewed about 16 or 17 potential buyers and got 13 substantial offers. In weeding out the offers, James’ advice was invaluable, as the deals offered were often quite complex to a simpleton like myself and the eventual buyer was chosen by considering several factors. James nursed me through the whole process and even after the sale was completed he was still interested and indeed helped to resolve issues that had arisen.

All things considered I would thoroughly recommend James, who steered the project to a very successful conclusion.”
