CapEQ teams up with charity to mentor start-ups

""

Ethical corporate finance advisor CapEQ has announced a new collaboration with Heropreneurs, a UK charity dedicated to supporting military veterans transitioning to civilian business ventures. This partnership aims to leverage CapEQ's expertise to bolster Heropreneurs' renowned mentoring programme, which assists around 200 new businesses annually run by service leavers, veterans, their families, and reservists.

Supporting veterans with business expertise

CapEQ will contribute its extensive knowledge and skills to enhance Heropreneurs' mentoring efforts. The collaboration includes practical skills workshops and one-on-one mentoring sessions designed to help veterans refine start-up ideas, scale emerging businesses, and navigate succession planning and long-term strategies.

Matt Feeley, Head of Development at Heropreneurs, commented:
“While we have strong corporate partners like Goldman Sachs and Warwick Business School, we want our entrepreneurs to not only start businesses but also ensure they run sustainable and successful companies. CapEQ’s expertise in business exits, scaling with investors, and acquisitions complements our mentoring programme perfectly. We are thrilled to welcome them aboard.”

CapEQ Director Mark Sapsford added:
“There is substantial support available for younger entrepreneurs, but less so for those transitioning careers later in life. We aim to address this gap. Our experience with established founders, family firms, and tech entrepreneurs will provide valuable insights to help veterans thrive in civilian business.”

Year-round support for ex-military entrepreneurs

In addition to the workshops, CapEQ will offer ongoing mentorship to select ex-military entrepreneurs, with a particular focus on those from Special Forces backgrounds who may face additional challenges in civilian life.
