Christmas is a particularly difficult time of year to be experiencing food insecurity when so many seasonal celebrations involve bringing people together around the table.

We wanted to do something for those having to choose between heating their home or having basic food to eat over the festive period.

A few of us dropped into our local independent foodbank ReadiFood in Reading yesterday, to put in a shift during one of their busiest times of year.

Our team of elves put together 100 Christmas food parcels packed with goodies and treats to be enjoyed during the festive season – all bagged up and ready to be delivered in the next few days.
