Wernick Group Acquires Modular Manufacturer AVDanzer, Expanding UK Operations

Wernick Group, one of the UK's largest portable building specialists, has completed the acquisition of modular building manufacturer and hire firm AVDanzer, adding new depots and specialist manufacturing capabilities to its growing portfolio of brands.

AVDanzer's leading role in UK infrastructure

Based in Manchester, AVDanzer is a leading provider of modular and temporary buildings, serving major UK infrastructure and development projects. These include high-profile ventures such as the Hinkley Point nuclear power station and the London Power Tunnels Project. AVDanzer also supplies schools, hospitals, laboratories, sports facilities, and offices, helping these sectors quickly increase capacity with temporary and permanent structures.

Wernick’s expanding national footprint

Founded in 1934, Wernick Group has steadily grown over the last two decades, now offering national coverage through 32 depots and divisional offices. The family-owned company serves both public and private sectors, providing modular buildings, site accommodation, and off-grid power solutions.

Shared values drive acquisition

David Wernick, Group Chairman of Wernick, explained the strong fit between the two businesses:
“We have a strong admiration for Danzer’s manufacturing capability and products. It quickly became clear that both companies share the same values of excellent customer service, product quality, and a commitment to safety and simplicity. We are delighted to welcome the Danzer team and look forward to growing the business together.”

Danzer's agility and innovation recognized

Dan Holloway, Director of AVDanzer, echoed these sentiments, crediting his team’s agility and innovation for their long-standing success:
“Our incredible staff have been the cornerstone of our 35 years at the forefront of the industry. We believe Wernick’s family values align perfectly with our own, and we’re confident the business will continue to flourish under their care.”

Ongoing operations and integration plans

Despite the acquisition, AVDanzer will continue to operate from its Manchester and Langley Mill sites. Its anti-vandal steel manufacturing division, based in Langley Mill, will continue trading under the AVDanzer name, while the Brentwood depot will be absorbed into Wernick’s existing depots in Essex and Kent. Key figures, including Helen Webster, will remain with the business.

Legal and advisory support

Wernick Group received legal support from Burness Paull for the acquisition, while AVDanzer was advised by CapEQ, with legal counsel from Harrison Clark Rickerbys (HCR Law).

Commenting on the deal, CapEQ Director James Pugh said:
“Helen, Dan, Bill, and their team have built an enviable business that attracted significant international interest. This partnership with Wernick is a win-win for everyone involved, and we wish them all continued success.”
